CHAPTER I - KNOW ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

1.1. What is Adobe Photoshop?

Adobe Photoshop is an image processing software is very powerful with all the trimmings. Result image with Adobe Photoshop if this many views on various websites, brochures, newspapers, magazines, and other media. To download Adobe Photoshop click here.

1.2. Know Your Work Area

Run Adobe Photoshop then select File menu -> Open. Then select any open image. For example in the open zhaow.jpg existing image on the CD Tutorial Chapter I (see figure 1.1).

Often the location of tools (palette) Adobe Photoshop has changed is modified by a previous user. To restore the location of this palette using the Windows menu -> Workspace -> Reset Palette Location.

Adobe Photoshop work area can be seen in figure 1.1, namely:

A: Menu Bar, contains the main command to open the file, save, resize images, filters and others.

B: Option, with a choice of tools that you choose. For example the selected brush / brush, the size / diameter brush here.

C: Image, display images that are created or edited.

D: pallete Well, a quick way to access the Brushes palette, tool resets and Layer comps. Can also be used to put frequently used palettes.

E: Toolbox, containing the tools to select and modify images.

F: Palette, containing the small windows in which the commands and options for document / image you're working on.

1.3. Practice Chapter 1

1.3.1. Opening the document and make copies of documents

To open the image using the File menu -> Open, and to make copies of images using the menu Image -> Duplicate.

1.3.2. Change the image size and canvas

If the size of the image changed, then the pictures will enlarge or shrink, to do with the menu Image -> Image Size. If the canvas size is changed, then the size of the image remains, there will be a white paper around a picture, do the menu Image -> Canvas Size.

1.3.3. Trying ToolBox

Try the tools at ToolBox, one by one will be discussed in the next chapter. Try right click on the tool that has a triangle on the bottom right to select a hidden tool.

1.3.4. Reflect and Play Image

Try the menu Image -> Rotate Canvas -> Flip Canvas Vertical, Image -> Rotate Canvas -> Flip Canvas Horizontal. To rotate the image, select menu Image -> Rotate Canvas -> select the desired angle.

1.3.5. Undo

Undo is used to cancel the last command, press Alt Ctrl Z, or use the history palette.

1.3.6. Moving images to other documents

To move an image using Move Tool.

1.3.7. Save for web

Use the menu File -> Save for Web to produce images with a small size commonly used on the web site.

SECTION II - SELECTION & TOOL

2.1. Selecting Images

Selecting means selecting a particular part of the picture. With our selection can copy, modify, move, or add effects to selected parts without affecting other parts.

There are three ways of selecting:

1. Marquee Tool, which is selected in the form of a box, elliptical, row, and column
2. Lasso Tool, to select in the form of free, polygonal or contrast (Magnetic Lasso Tool).
3. Magic Wand Tool, for selecting colors based on the equation.

There are two types of selection (can be selected on Option Bar), namely:

1. Normal, has a sharp edge.
2. Feather, has a smooth edge or blur.

2.3. Practice Chapter II

2.3.1. Rectangular Marquee Tool

Use the rectangular marquee tool to crop the image in the form of a box. Use the menu Select -> Transform Selection to change the selection and the menu Select -> Feather to set the sharpness of the edge pieces.

2.3.2. Elliptical Marquee Tool

Used to create the ellipse or circle selection. You can use the Select -> Transform Selection (or right click) to change the field who would be selected. Use the menu Select -> Feather to set the sharpness of the image. Use Select -> Inverse to reverse the selection.

2.3.3. Lasso Tool

This selection is used to select a free form with the mouse.

2.3.4. Polygonal Lasso Tool

Polygonal Lasso Tool is used to select an image that has the edge of a straight line, such as the pyramid in the figure 2.5. If the Alt key is pressed it will polygonal Lasso Tool Lasso Tool works as usual. Sample images of the pyramid is reduced and the selection is placed on the bottom right corner.

2.3.5. Magnetic Lasso Tool

Magnetic Lasso Tool use is fairly easy, because with this tool selection, the image will automatically create a line selection on the color image contrast.

2.3.3. Crop Tool

Crop tool used to remove parts that are not selected. Examples of use in here is used to improve the side scan results.

2.3.3. Healing Brush Tool

Healing Brush Tool is used to improve the image of a particular section. Activate this tool, then press Alt-click on an object on the sections that are not wrinkled, and then click on the wrinkled parts to be removed.

2.3.4. Spot Healing Brush Tool

Spot Healing Brush Tool is used to repair damaged pictures. Here you do not need to specify the area to be used as a benchmark, because it will be automatically selected from the surrounding area. Example is used to eliminate cracks in the statue as shown 2.10.

This tool is a new tool in Adobe Photoshop CS2 that does not exist in previous versions.

2.3.5. Patch Tool

Patch Tool is used to improve the image. This tool is made by a selection with the mouse or by holding ALT key to generate polygonal shapes. Next drag the area to be used as a benchmark improvement.

2.3.6. Red Eye Tool

Red Eye tool is used to improve the red color on the eyes.

2.3.7. Clone Stamp Tool

Clone Stamp Tool is used to duplicate the image area, or the so-called cloning. Press ALT on the object to be cloned, then use the mouse on the area where the new object will be placed.

2.3.8. Background Eraser Tool

This tool is used to remove the background of similar color. Example is used to remove the background sky in the image of butterflies.

2.3.9. Magic Eraser Tool

Like the Background Eraser tool, this tool will remove the area with the same color, but the effect is the whole picture, not just the area clicked.

2.3.10. Color Replacement Tool

Color Replacement Tool will change the color of an image without changing the shape of the picture. This tool will automatically change the only area with the same color into another color desired.

2.3.11. Blur, Sharpen, and Smugde Tool

Blur Tool is used to obscure the area. Example is used to remove freckles on her face. Sharpen Tool is the antithesis of the Blur Tool. With Sharpen Tool, images will become sharper. Smugde tool used to change the form of images by mouse drag.

2.3.12. Dogde, Burn, and Sponge Tool

Dogde tool used to create a brighter area. Burn tool is used to mempergelap area. Spong tool used to brighten (saturate) or reduce the color (desaturate).

CHAPTER III - THE GAME COLOR

3.1. A glimpse of the color

Any color can be expressed in three basic colors (RGB) that is red, green, and blue. How to declare the other colors are in fashion HSL is Hue, Saturation, and Lightness. Another mode is CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black).

In this chapter will discuss about the game of colors, ranging from set a background image, create a gradient, set the brightness & contrast, and more tools are interesting. In the next section you can directly practice accompanied by an instructor.

3.2. Paint Bucket Tool

Paint Bucket Tool used to replace the background with the same or similar color. Background can be replaced with a pattern.

3.3. Gradient Tool

Gradient tool used to produce color gradations. Do not forget to do the first selection which will contain the color gradation. If not, then the whole canvas is filled with gradations.

3.4. Brush Tool

Brush Tool is used as a brush in a draw with the mouse. Set the brush size, hardness, opacity, and flow. Bush Tool can also work on Air Brush mode.

3.5. Brightness / Contrast

Brightness is used to adjust the brightness of the image. Contrast is used to adjust the sharpness of the image. Use the menu Image -> Adjustment -> Brightness / Contrast.

3.6. Level

Level of functioning similar to the Brightness / Contrast, but is more flexible because the color can be set in dark, medium color, and bright colors. Level can work on the selection or the entire canvas. Use the menu Image -> Adjustment -> Level.

3.7. Curves

Curves works like a level, but you adjust the RGB colors in the form of curva. Use the menu Image -> Adjustment -> Curves. Curva can be set automatically, or RGB mode regulated individually for each color.

3.8. Color Balance

Through the menu Image -> Adjustment -> Color Balance you can adjust the color balance.

3.9. Photo Filter

Photo filter is used to filter the image. Similar filter placed in front of the camera lens. Use the menu Image -> Adjustment -> Photofilter.

3.10. Replace Color

Replace Color is used to replace specific colors in the picture, while other colors are not changed. For example to change the color without changing the apples with the background color. Use the menu Image -> Adjusments -> Replace Color.

3.11. Hue / Saturation

Hue / Saturation is used to change the color on the overall picture / selection. Hue is the color, while Saturation is thick / thin color. Use this tool through the Image -> Adjustment -> Hue / Saturation. Change the color can be set on the master channel, or of each color.

3.12. Match Color

Color Match will match the color of the source image to the picture to be changed. For example here would be changed danau3.jpg image, the eyes appeared to be an atmosphere like the reference image. Use this tool via the menu Image -> Adjustment -> Match Color.

CHAPTER IV - TEXT AND VECTOR

4.1. Horizontal Type Tool

Horizontal Type Tool is used to create horizontal ririskiky text. The results of the text can be moved with Move Tool.

4.2. Horizontal Type Mask Tool

Horizontal Type Mask Tool is used to select in the form of text.

4.3. Pen Tool

Peen Tool used to create straight lines and curves in the form of vectors. Click once to create an anchor point, then if the curve has been established, drag the anchor point to create a direction point. Path created by the Pen Tool can be converted into a selection.

4.4. Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, and Custom Shape Tool

This tool allows you to produce a box shape (rectangle), ellipse, polygon, and various other forms that have been provided by Adobne Photoshop. These forms such as the liver, lights, musical notes, and so forth.

CHAPTER V - LAYER, MASK, AND STYLE

5.1. Understanding Layers

Layer is a transparent layer. Parts that are not illustrated in a transparent layer. Layers can be stacked and organized structure. By using layers, effects would apply only in certain layers, without disturbing the other layers.

5.2. Quick Mask Mode

Quick Mask Mode is used to select by using the Brush Tool. Activate this tool by pressing the Q key on the keyboard or choose Quick Mask Mode tool.

In this example, the picture bears the selection by using the Brush Tool with the quick mask mode. After the bear selected images, return to normal mode to produce a selection of images bears.

5.3. Layer Mask

Layer Mask is used to hide certain parts of the layer. Use this to hide the black and white images to display images.

5.4. Layer Style

Layer Style is a technique to give a certain effect on a layer. Select Add Layer Style tool that is at the bottom right corner of the palette.

CHAPTER VI - PHOTOSHOP SPECIAL EFFECTS

6.1. Liquify Filter

Liquify filter can change the images directly by using the mouse. Eg zoom in / out eyes, moved his eyebrows, and so on. This filter can be used via the menu Filter -> Liquify.

6.2. Vanishing Point Filter

Vanishing Point filter is used to Klone in the form of perspective drawings. This filter can be used via the menu Filter -> Vanishing Point. Cloning source area is determined by pressing Alt + Click. Feature is a new feature in Adobe Photoshop CS2.

6.3. Blur Filter

Blur filters are used to blur the picture. What is interesting in this filter is blurring the image can be made radially. Use this filter via the menu Filter -> Blur.
