COMPUTER NETWORK FOR SETTING THE OPERATING SYSTEM
Microsoft Windows 95/98 and NT4 by default include the three protocols
popular networking standard in use:
NOVELL-Netware. This protocol is very fast and can be directed. And
much applied in large configurations and are usually used
mengoneksikan for windows machines to the server NOVELL 95.
B. NetBEUI Protocol
Developed by Microsoft for their workgroup-Networking.
NetBEUI protocol is also a very fast and he was presented by
Microsoft to connect to the Win 95 – to – Win 95 and Win 95-to-NT Server.
NetBEUI works quite simple, requiring no configuration means.
C. TCP / IP
Protocol was developed for the purposes of Wide Area
Network (WAN), and in a more complex configuration.
Stage to install the protocol on the windows 98 is click the Start menu> Settings
> Control Panel, double-click Network icon. Then the display will appear as

In the window TCP / IP Properties select the IP Address tab, and select “obtain an IP address
automatically “if the computer coupled to the DHCP Server. And select “Specify an IP
address “if the IP Address and Subnet Mask manually filled.

If necessary to enable the Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) server,
click the WINS Configuration tab, and click the Enable WINS Resolution and enter the number
server address.

If the network is connected to the Internet / WAN or want to connect with
other networks, it is necessary to Gateway. click the Gateway tab, enter the address number
server.

On the DNS Configuration tab, select Enable DNS on the network if there is control
Server, the contents of the host computer name and the domain as domain content
DNS Server rule. While domain suffix to facilitate the elongation of the name.

For network security should be turned off all the bindings to “Client for Microsoft

winipcfg utility will require the existing windows. Because this utility is not
there in the start menu, then run manually, ie through the Start> Run>
typing winipcfg, press OK.

To check the network connection can be done with tools based TCP / IP,
ie ‘ping’. On the Start menu> Run or the MS-DOS prompt by typing ping
followed by the other computers IP address is dijaringan. For example: ping 192.168.1.5
If the results Reply from, then certainly there is no problem with the connection.
If there are errors such as ‘Request time out’, try doing a ping from a computer
in-ping said. If not both, then there are several possibilities on the network.
Perform checks on the network hardware, such as cables, connectors, hubs, card
network. When encountered an error like ‘Destination host unreachable’, check
setting TCP / IP (IP Address, Net Mask, Gateway).
